Pipe Medic completed a 600DN Patch repair on the tidal Tovey Street / Avon River outlet. After initial investigation a large opening was found at the first joint from the outfall causing heavy infiltration of water and silt. This caused the ground above and around the pipeline to slowly flush away and sink in.
The project to repair the fault required team effort and had to be completed within low tide. Suck It Up sucked out and cleaned the chamber into a workable environment. City Care setup bypasses and removed the non-return valve . PipeMedic then installed the 600DN Patch to seal both the joint and to also leave enough room for the non-return valve to be reinstalled.
PipeMedic successfully installed the patch useing the Trelleborg patching system, which has sealed and stabilised the pipeline to continue the service life well beyond another 50 years.
